Alkimi Syrah 2022

This Alkimi Syrah has always been a wine that holds excellent fire pit and char-grilled steak appeal and the 2022 is no different. I've been known to buy 6 packs of this from Stuart Dudine precisely for that reason. Proven to develop with some bottle age, it's just a bloody good drink.

But this 2022 is the last stand with Dudine not using the Silvan Reservoir Vineyard Syrah going forward. Sigh. But don't despair - he has picked up some other smart parcels to wrap your lips around.

From a cool year with low yields, a generous pour reveals peppered steak, baked blueberries and mulberry compote. These all flow through seamlessly and that black pepper coils around the mouth. A few swirls of the glass and drunken cherries and a violet perfume rise up. Persistent and wonderfully medium-bodied, steak, souvla or burger night, this is a cool night comforter for sure. Yes!
