After going MIA due to bushfires and high rainfall in 2020 and 2021, the Gundog Estate Canberra District Shiraz is back for 2022. A good drink, this is a burger night special.
It sees 30% new French oak for 14 months. Opening with scents of salted caramel and peppered steak, licks of caramel slide in with time in the glass. Dark cherries, baked raspberries and red apple skin drive the fruit profile with shavings of dark chocolate. It thins out a touch in the mid-palate and finishes with a rush of spice and a respectable finish. Give it a good swirl and serve alongside some food and it will tick the box.
