Marsannne and all its nuttiness, honeyed tones and yellow stonefruit is a beautiful thing. This is a very good example from Yarra Valley producer Alkimi.
Give me all the cashews and hazelnuts. There is a curious sugar-coated almond thing going on too. It's a wine with presence and body that offers some grip to hold on to. Marigold and daffodil scents along with peach skin offer a terrific introduction. Yellow peach, nectarines and apricots glisten with touches of mandarin peel. The flicker of ginger and cinnamon on close offers plenty to tease and urges you to return soon after. This is very, very well done. Bravo.
Drink to five years.
