Alkimi Primavera Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

There is a lot to love about this Primavera Chardonnay's edgy feels and drive. Exploration of interest and texture is Stu Dudine's bag and he's exercised that fabulously here.

Handled slightly differently to its Willowlake sibling, this was whole bunch pressed to second use French oak where wild fermentation took place as well as malolactic fermentation. Occasionally stirred to build texture, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

A captivating wine from the outset, scents of Caramilk, custard apple, peach skin, Portuguese tart and struck match rise up. I can't stop swirling the glass. Take a sip and slivers of ginger, vanilla slice and buttersnap biscuit are met with a leisurely stonefruit drive. A delicate nuttiness emerges late with tonic like feels leaving a trail of satisfaction. A wine that certainly grows on you, big love for the texture and weight. Yes!
