Slightly cooler than the Smart Vineyard in Clarendon, this sits in the deep sands of Blewitt Springs. And we all know the jewel in the McLaren Vale Grenache crown is those deep sands.
Tasting the two wines side by side really highlights the diversity of the site both for soils and climate. The aromatics are more engaging and pretty here - just brilliant!
Petals, blueberries, there is a delightful lift and energy yet there's some depth to wrap your hands around. Some earthiness is apparent, but the medium-bodied weight has precision. Red fruits and cherries swarm with some burnt orange and cranberry highlights and delicate spices. Long, the palate is coated with ease. I just want to dive in. What a beauty!
