Holm Oak Arneis 2023

Known as the 'little rascal' due to its difficulty to grow, Arneis has found a happy home in Holm Oak's Tamar Valley vineyards. This is the first and only Arneis in Tasmanian soils - how good! A fabulous drink, the fleshy delivery is the clincher.

There is so much to grab onto. Think golden apples, underripe green apples, pears, lemon meringue and a nutty undertow bring plenty of interest with some good weight and density. The suggestion of some dried herbs and a fine dusting of spices arrive late, but then a captivating tang swoops in on close highlighted by lemon sherbet and lemon juice adding further appeal.

Arneis is not all that common on the mainland although there are pockets of plantings of this northern Italian variety worth exploring. Above all, this is a cracking drink and one I'd highly recommend to expand your horizons.
