Hasn't Grenache Blanc seen a meteoric rise in the Barossa of late? A few years ago it was barely around, now there are several producers throwing it about with more plantings to come. This release from Schwarz Wine Co is tops. I love the mouthfeel and textural presence.
It kicks off with great energy from citrus flowers and marigold flowers skipping from the glass. Honeyed tones, golden apple and poached pear elevate the pleasure factor with hints of quartz and almond meal. A wine with fabulous acid and structure, I keep thinking I need a plate of Kingfish by my side. The length drives on effortlessly with a fine tickle of what seems to be ginger spice as the parting gift. Clever, considered, delicious.
