Bone-dry and savoury, picnics are a go-go with this Vinya Vella bush vine Grenache Rosé in your glass. It's a solid drink for those sun-shining days.
A field blend with a few buckets of Mataro tossed in for good measure, the fruit comes from Dylan Grigg's Vine Vale site. Most of the vines for this wine have an average age of 30 years with a portion of new plantings contributing for the first time.
There is much to admire. It is layered with detail and highlighted by blood orange, apricot kernel, white cherries, the white bit of the strawberry and red currants. Peach skin type feels are feathered through the mouth and a dash of dried herbs rolls through late. A little lemony tang sees things off but all I can think about is paella in the park and a plentiful glass. Yes!
