Even Keel Cortese 2022

Brand new and damn fine. The first Cortese on the Mornington Peninsula that I know of, this is a glass of delish with a point of difference from Even Keel.

Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, it was wild yeast fermented in old French oak and then racked to stainless steel.

White flowers, tart green apple and cut pear meets lime juice, lemon zest and lemon myrtle with a fine thread of creaminess. A green tea texture lingers and it leaves quite the impression for a wine coming off young vines (planted in 2011). There is a terrific minerally vibe here that I'm loving. Screaming for Mediterranean inspired seafood dishes, this is a variety to watch. Bravo for a fabulous first release.

Drink now.
