Boom! Like a face plant into a blackberry jube. Delicious!
From Parker Coonawarra's Abbey vineyard, this 95 Block Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot blend (74/26) sees 16 months in French oak (60% new).
Opening with leafy Cabernet notes, cigar box and Bay leaf, brace for the blackberry and black fruit explosion. Rounded with a fabulous drive, there is a little dusty road, meatiness, and Memphis meat rub adding to the savoury aspect of its personality. Sure the percentage of new oak used is high, but the handling is supreme to ensure it plays nothing more than a supporting role. The fusion of the two varieties elevates the experience no end with well handled tannins offering fine brick dust feels. Although I love the freshness now on release, this will age comfortably for as long as you want.
