I like this. Hello to a savoury and meaty Pinot Noir courtesy of the Yarra Valley's Squitchy Lane.
10% whole bunches were used before seeing French oak for 11 months (30% new). Those who love clone detail would be pleased to know that this is a blend of MV6 and 114 (85/15) planted on their own rootstock in 1982.
Some flex and muscle through the mid-palate draw my attention. Smoked meats, pan juices and char build interest with dark cherries and red plums fleshing out the fruit profile. The tension is evident with a fine dusting of dried herbs adding further detail. It sits on the robust side of the Pinot spectrum and drinks wonderfully now but time will be its friend too.
