Labelled as from the Central Ranges, the fruit is sourced from Mudgee producer First Ridge. Initial aromas of mushroom compost and sauteed mushroom aromas caught me by surprise before they blew off to reveal red cherries and red flowers making their claim. Awash with earthy notes, fine spices and a little pan juice meatiness, it's a silky and very easy wine to enjoy. Fine tannins tense up on close as the spice keeps tapping away. Nicely done and a food-friendly delight as per the Sangiovese DNA.
