Latin for delightful, Suāvis is Vin Sōl’s new GSM, from the hands of Scott Heinrich. It's a wine that carries confidence without ever feeling imposing.
Generous fruit leads the way, with dense plums, stewed raspberries and dark cherries forming a rich, inviting core. Dark chocolate, woodsy spices, cloves and baking spices glide through the palate, subtly accented by overt oak. Scattered dried herbs add complexity, while a thread of raspberry rope lingers gently on the finish. Some tension remains even after a couple of days of tasting, yet the wine’s sturdy frame and poised structure make it compelling. Well priced, a good decant will help this wine show at its best for immediate enjoyment.
