Break Free Enfant de Lune Syrah 2021

Frankland River Syrah harvested by moonlight and fermented for ten days with some Viognier skins tossed in to lift aromatics. This is a great drink.

Lange Estate Providence Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Take me with two hands it says. A Cabernet that softens wonderfully over a few days. Give it some time in a decanter or a couple of years tucked away and you'll reap the reward.

Lange Estate Providence Road Shiraz 2020

I don't like posting bottle pics with show medals, but this was the best pic I could find. For the record, this Shiraz just scrapes into the silver medal zone.

Singlefile Wines Single Vineyard Clement V 2018

Singlefile's Clement V is a salute to the role the "Avignon Papacy" played in establishing viticulture in the Southern Rhone region of France. This blend is a beauty.

Cornucopia Cabernet Merlot 2013

Throw me some pizza please.

A 70/30 blend from the Margaret River and Frankland River regions. Dark fruits present well with an intriguing citrusy acid tang on the the finish. Smooth with enticing depth, the longer it sat in the glass the more is settled into a neat groove. A reliable go-to which presents super value for the asking price.

I'd have a glass or two easily. A yummy release.

Drink over the next few years.

Very good.

Houghton Crofters Shiraz 2013

My initial thoughts on this weren't great. A bit of a bullish type kid. Rough around the edges. Abrasive is probably a better word.

A day on it opened up and seemed more inviting. Blue fruit and some violet type aromas stepped up. Spice is tempered as is the oak, but there was still a roughish finish. But hey, for $19 you could do worse. Much worse. Mind you, I'd spend the same money on its stablemate The Bandit in a heart beat.

Cellar up to eight years.

Houghton The Bandit Shiraz 2014

This wine walked away with the Stodart Trophy at the Royal QLD Wine Show for the best one year old wine. Medium bodied wines seem to be taking similar awards across the country and it appears the future could well be with this style.

Purple florals, tangy spice but with fruit which is sensual and elegant. But there's a chocolate and cherry goodness driving this beauty all the way home. Puckering tannin sit on the finish which is ridden by the spice.

A great drink made better by the price tag. Find it for just under $20.
