Two single vineyards from different regions have been blended to deliver this powerful Cabernet Malbec from Clandestine Vineyards.
A 55/45 blend that sees 25% new French oak, it was big on opening. Very big. As a result, I left this for a few hours in the glass before returning and it calmed immeasurably. Time in a dark place will be it's friend, that's for sure.
Blackberries and blackcurrants feature large. It greets you with a firm handshake on arrival and that tension backs down ever so slightly. Tomato bush and dried thyme show some varietal characters and some char comes courtesy of the oak. Fat cocoa tannins are drying with a lemony acidity (that piques my attention and potentially speaks of some additions) bring a tang with it for the ride. It thins out a little on close but I reckon it needs some protein by its side. Roast night or a steak will do just fine.
Drink to eight years.
