Tasted at one of the highest vineyards in Orange, the vista and the company made the occasion memorable. This is Matthew Atallah's second Chardonnay release since he went solo in 2016.
Sourced from the famed Balmoral vineyard planted circa 1988, Atallah has an eye for detail and he is very specific about which rows he takes. Tasting his wines adds yet another reason why consumers should support small businesses like this. No cellar door, no vineyards but desire to produce great wines from select parcels.
Full MLF and lots of barrel stirring, this is tense with yellow peaches running riot ably supported by golden apple. Add some caramel drops, roasted cashews, a suggestion of ginger and canned corn, the length is moreish. Quality cool climate Chardonnay.
