So clean, so precise, this Byrne Farm is an excellent Chardonnay and superb buying for $35. Bomb dive into this pool of deliciousness.
Grown at 900 metres above on the northern side of Orange's Mount Canobolas from a wet year, the fruit was handpicked (four weeks later than normal) and whole bunch pressed seeing 30% new French oak for nine months.
The purity has me sitting on the edge of my seat. Coupled with the well-handled acidty, this is Chardonnay precision. Lemon meringue and lemon juice flood the mouth. There is a fine texture and a soft creaminess (think Allen's Milkbottles) as a result of a lot of lees stirring. That length! Not to mention that tang that has me salivating for more. Yes! Chardonnay bliss. Go here.
Drink to eight years.
