These wines from Alan Varney are clever. This Grenache 2022 has super appeal and the slurp factor is cranked high. Jump in (deep!) I say.
A parade of purple fruit and blueberries strut their stuff. Pretty scents of raspberries and red petals skip from the glass. There is a little anger and tension in the mid-palate early that creates intrigue, and naturally, I go back for more. Give a little more air and it cools its heels. Grown on sandy soils, that profile comes through in the sandy like tannins that wash through the mouth. Fine spices tickle and tease on close. Pour me another. Make it large.
