This current release Chardonnay from Matthew Atallah is excellent. Those who enjoy rich styles are in for a treat.
Sourced from the famed Balmoral vineyard planted circa 1988, Atallah has an eye for detail and he is very specific about which rows he takes.
Detailed, there is plenty to absorb. Cap gun, cashews, creme brulee, popcorn and then waves of yellow peaches and nectarines wash through. Long, that drive! A Jersey caramel creaminess weaves through with ease etched with lemon juice sitting long and urging you back for more. I could have easily enjoyed a few glasses with the company and the glorious vista (tasted at one of the highest vineyards in Orange), but hey, maybe next time.
