An age-worthy Shiraz, this Hoosegg Monkey Magic from Philip Shaw is another example of an excellent fusion of fruit and oak.
The drive and depth is all-consuming. Although it already has five years under its belt, it's still quite young. Glorious plummy fruit combines with an array of fine spices and Christmas cake spices that are woven throughout. Cropped low and picked early, the long and detailed finish builds wonderfully. This is going somewhere.
