A pre-release look at the Philip Shaw No. 6 Chardonnay.
All the best work has been thrown at this parcel of fruit. From a Californian clone, it's tight with depth and interest. I had the chance to sample this during a quick-fire tasting at the cellar door, and it is certainly a wine I'd like to spend more time with. It shows great fruit purity - a typical Orange Chardonnay characteristic. Impressive poise and drive are a feature with a nutty edge that I find very engaging. An excellent wine and one that will continue to develop with time.
Drink to eight years.
