Carrick Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Central Otago Learning #126 - Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc is significantly different to those grassy and herby Sauvs that have flooded the market from Marlborough.

Central Otago Sauv Blancs are all stonefruit and pear driven. This release was wild fermented with 25% aged in French oak for six months. I was taken aback I must say, and perhaps people (like me - I'm not the biggest Sauv Blanc fan in the world) shouldn't throw all New Zealand Sauv Blancs in the same basket. There's a wonderful and delicate creamy drive resulting from the time in oak and I found the weight quite appealing. Those stone fruits and pears just keep skipping about - a fabulous drink.

Drink now to three years.
