This Pinot Shiraz had me scratching my head. It came across angry and stern initially but loosened up on day two of tasting.
Pretty in the glass, attractive aromas build a neat picture early. Think scents of cherry pie, lillypilly, baked blueberries, dried red flowers.
In the mouth it was hard going early. I put it aside and when I returned 24 hours later, it was significantly better with some air under its wings. It moved with greater ease as a result. Earthy with some old leather, the medium bodied weight is carried well. The challenge with wines like these is that most folk don't have time to wait another day after opening. Best decant well in advance.
Drink to six years.
