Of the three Stefano Lubiana Single Block Pinots, this is the top of the pile. And what an impressive trio they are for Pinot lovers.
Ruscello translates to 'small mountain stream'. There's a little creek that runs through the middle of the property, hence the name for this block.
With a grey gravelly silt over clay soil, it's a well drained north facing site. With an average vine age of 24 years, the fruit from this block produces fruit with more feminine characterisitics - everything that is exquisite and attractive about Pinot Noir.
Such a pretty and delicate wine, it's a thing of beauty. Violets and purple aromas mesh with five spice and dark berry fruit. A mouthwatering presence in the mouth as dried herbs and delicate tannins wash through with absolute ease. A veil of fine peppery spice is draped over the top completing what is a brilliant wine and one which will last comfortably beyond a decade.
