This Tassie Pinot is right in the slot. From three hectares, largest of the three single blocks, only three rows were chosen to contribute to this wine.
The soils in this block are more variable with heavier silty black clay topsoil over clay with some limestone influence.
There's a lot to like about the frame of this Pinot. Scents of soft purple flowers, clove, baking spices and cardamom spill from the glass with ease. Dark plum fruit is flanked by some red fruit. A clenched fist like presence in the mouth suggests time will be its friend. Over a couple of days of tasting it softened and opened up beautifully but the drive is what impressed me most. Fine spices and delicate tannins cradle a long and sustained finish. I could get comfortable here.
