Here we have a Pinot Noir from Western Australia's Great Southern region. It's a tidy drink with a respectable length.
Hand and machine harvested with a seven day cold soak, with whole bunch fermentation and barrel fermentation seeing French oak for ten months (24% new).
Strawberries and dusty earth make a strong early impression. What struck me though is how the fruit thins out a little in the mid-palate. Some density comes in the form of dark plums and black currants but I was hoping they would stay a little longer. Spicy to close, it lingers with a slippery feel loitering about. It didn't reach the heights of the 2021 but there is satisfaction to be found.
Drink to five years.
