If lean and pristine is your go-to Chardonnay, this is probably not your bag. The depth and sophistication are captivating, although it must be said, this is not big and bulky. Winemaker Simon Black again shows his prowess and ethereal handling.
Considered as ever, I have big love for this. Creamy and layered, wafers, vanilla cream and nougat muse with almonds and raw cashews. Some flint with a minerally tease, ruby grapefruit and a flash of lime juice go about their work before old school lemonade takes hold. It seemingly goes full circle with creme caramel and creme brulee creaminess. Long and polished, the depth and layered detail are captivating. Lemons juice runs long on the finish capping off a Chardonnay that has uber sophisticated feels. Don't mind me while I sit in the corner on my own and polish off the lot.
Drink to eight years.
