This Stockman's Ridge Signature Gruner Veltliner was harvested riper and barrel fermented to differentiate it from its sibling. The different handling is telling and the generosity is evident.
Going further, there is more polish and less tension when comparing this to the entry-level Rider Gruner Veltliner from Stockman's Ridge. From vines planted in 2012, it matured in French oak for three months, and a small component underwent MLF.
Ribbons of ginger and cinnamon spice flow with confidence yet have an engaging persona. Cut green apple and golden apple drive through with a cheeky white peach, fresh pear and Chai tea undertow. The shapely figure it cuts leans it more to be enjoyed with chicken dishes with a little spice - I'm thinking Friday night Malaysian takeaway.
