Penny's Hill Cracking Black Shiraz 2021

A McLaren Vale Shiraz from Penny's Hill that is all about getting in deep with dark fruit and dark chocolate. From two sites that were fermented separately before blending, one from Malpas Road planted in 1991 and the other from the Penny's Hill vineyard.

Some char and cured meats slide in making an effort to be noticed. An acid pinch raises its hand too. Christmas cake spices, cloves and star anise come to play along with earthy threads. Some red fruit tries to emerge but it's shouldered away. Tense, this will match a roast beef well. A solid wine for the price point.
