Dense and generous as Saperavi should be, the core of this Arila Gardens release is saturated, but it's not as weighty as its predecessor.
There is still plenty here to embrace, don't get me wrong, I just preferred the 2022. Think purple flowers, blueberry compote and stewed mulberries to get things underway. Add some plums, blackberries, drunken cherries, black tea, dried herbs, licorice, cedar and dark chocolate and you have quite a wine. Brick dust tannins coat the palate with a respectable sign off. A generous glass beside a roast beef is where this wants to be.
