This is my first look at these Ivyburn wines. The website is skinny on detail, particularly with a lack of contact info and no social media. Hmm. Anyway, here we are... A rich and generous McLaren Vale Cabernet lands in your glass. Give it some time to breathe - it needs it.
Super dark in appearance, a dishwashing liquid perfume raises the eyebrows from the get-go but that moves on and it is no where to be seen on the second day of tasting. Big, voluminous and incredibly drying, its rounded shoulders carry the weight with relative ease. Dense plums and black berry fruit combine with dark chocolate and a good dose of oak that works well with the fruit. A pitter patter of spice shimmers with drying, puckering tannins late but there is no denying the generosity. It's not my type of wine but those who enjoy bigger framed wines will be at home here.
