The last time I saw this Pegasus Bay Prima Donna 2019 was in 2022 and an extra couple of years in bottle has certainly been of benefit. It was an exceptional wine back then and it has only elevated its presence furthermore.
A barrel selection, the best parcels are sewn together to deliver this immaculate Pinot Noir that oozes charisma and detail. The Estate wine in the range is no slouch, in fact it is excellent in its own right. The entry level Main Divide is a bargain in itself, but line the three up and the progression and class here is abundantly clear.
Refined, ethereal and elegant, this is silky and persistent. Black cherries and plums are framed by black tea, meat board and pan juices with tilled earth and sauteed mushrooms. Spiced dark cherries reach long with some bacon hock, cinnamon and star anise. The detail and presence offer something new each time you reach for the glass. Elegance and finesse has a new home.
