A wine that continues to perform at a supreme level, the Flametree SRS deserves to be held in the upper echelon of Margaret River Chardonnays.
The fruit was whole bunch pressed before wild yeast fermentation took place in French oak (40% new) and spending 10 months in barrel on full lees.
An expressive aroma of flint, match sticks and dehydrated peach skips from the glass. Creamy with vanilla slice highlights, white fleshed stonefruit is dangerously poised delivering a fabulous moreishness. A little cashew nuttiness slides in with a deft touch of caramel. The oak has been handled superbly and the consistency with previous vintages is certainly a feature. A long finish is accentuated by ginger spices and a delicious grapefruit tang. It's just delightful drinking for Chardonnay purists. Bravo!
