Like its Duke Reserve Grenache stablemate, this Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM needs some time to breathe. Give it that chance and it is absolutely humming.
Quite rich and showing some perceived portiness early along with stewed berries and cola, it took a severe turn the following day to show an incredible silky and soft presence. The aromas were much brighter and vivid. Give it a decant or the time in the glass it deserves and you'll be rewarded deluxe.
Draped in fine spices, the three varieties work in supreme harmony. Black and red fruits walk in hand with some meatiness, caramel, puffs of earth and an enchanting ribbon of fine spices. No one variety stands out which is a credible nod to the winemaking yet bottle age has certainly played its hand here too.
The more I peruse, the more I'm infatuated. Brilliant stuff.
