Chardonnay releases with 6 years of bottle age are rare. Say hello to this detailed, glorious piece from Duncan Cook.
A considered winemaker, this Iconique Barrique Chardonnay spends 24 months on lees in new and seasoned French oak with the barrels rolled rather than stirred to build texture and complexity.
Let it be known, I'm here for the detail. It's a wine to sit back with and peel off the interest. A fabulous conversational piece, devour butterscotch, Portuguese tart, vanilla cream, whipped butter, breadsticks, wafer biscuits and creme caramel notes that fold into one another with ease. A delicate nutty drive pins the core together with lemon zest and lemon meringue. The length is supreme, yet the mouthfeel is lacy with plenty of depth. A class act, this is very well done.
