Tim Smith Roussanne 2025

This is only the second Roussanne release from Tim Smith and it appears he knows what he is doing. An excellent wine, if a white wine with some body is in your wheelhouse, make a beeline for this.
The intrigue that is delivered here is seemingly endless. Every sniff and every sip reveal something new, something to ponder and something to gravitate to. Keeping to its roots, this is a rich wine with some oily traits. Notes of honeysuckle, honeycomb and canned apricot nectar are the driving force. Six months on lees has developed a fabulous texture and creamy complexity. I keep digging around and unearth quince and scents of fresh figs. Ginger and cinnamon spices curl around the mouth and linger on a persistent finish. Fleshy and damn delicious, that fine phenolic grip shows tonic and green tea like tannins. A super impressive take on one of Rhone's pleasures. Bravo!
