Unusual bedfellows but this Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre blend from Tellurian works a treat. Dancy and flirtatious, the Carignan brings a delightful red fruit and floral lift.
It's a wine that wants to fall into your embrace yet dance the night away. Delightful red fruits skip from the glass, think red currants, red cherries and a lick of pomegranates. Lithe dark chocolate does a lap with understated raspberry. Even a hint of cherry pie raises its hand before it seizes up on close. That tension builds further intrigue and a moreishness. I dig the spicy touch here too. I'm thinking I need a sizzling Mongolian lamb right about now - the ones where they parade the dish through the restaurant and you feel like a monarch when it lands in front of you and everyone peers over in awe. That. Yet this will be just as comfortable beside a bowl of spag bol or a perfect partner for a Netflix binge. You choose but you'll be drinking well.
