Bunchy goodness shines through in this excellent, savoury driven Pinot Noir from Castle Rock Estate. Lacey and edged with fine spices, it has class etched into its name.
A&W represents the best of the brand from vines planted in 1986. 25% whole bunches are used and it sees 19% new French oak. Dark cherries, strawberries and some rhubarb move to an earthy detail that gradually consumes the mouth. A lick of char before a fine powder dusts the palate with a dryness that slowly builds a seductive moreishness. A faint meaty presence rolls in but that detailed tannin caps off a fabulous wine. Another belter from the west.
