Huntington Estate Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

In the groove. Silky and savoury, aged red wine bliss. I was fortunate enough to score a museum release sample of this wine. True to form, these Huntington Estate wines age well.

Earthy, game, leather and some dried currants. Pitched beautifully, it dances across the palate with a wonderful, persistent finish. There is still enough shape and structure here to comfortably see out at least another five years. The longer it sat in the glass the better it got. Given it's been sleeping for 13 years that's completely understandable. Those boisterous, mouth-filling Mudgee tannins very much command this wine which is also a nod to the making. Smart gear.
