We drink Pinot quite young in Australia. Many Pinots released in New Zealand have a couple of years of bottle age on their side. Here's an example of a Pinot which would benefit from cellaring and it will pay dividends handsomely.
Bright red cherries lead the way with a firm rub of tannin massaged into its veins. Some savoury appeal tries to poke its way through. There's a bright shimmer about the acidity and I get the feeling it will calm and nestle into its shoes with time. Some delicious depth and complexity are on offer - there are some parallels here with a few Central Otago Pinots sampled recently.
