There's a good whack of oak here. I reckon it sits on a knife edge - some folk may be in their happy place yet others may say too much. It does play its hand, let that be said. Either way, it's a fabulous blend.
The finished wine saw 84% new French oak for just under a year then seeing 18 months in five year old oak.
A wine that lives for lamb - on the souvla, on the barbecue or the Sunday lamb roast. This Reserve is a blend of Cabernet, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc (68/16/16).
Cedar and dried herbs hit the ground from the outset. It's generosity and length hit the bulls eye. Flashes of red fruit nestle in behind dark berries and plums before the cedar and herb casually shoulder their way to the fore once more. It's a neat tussle for attention but the fruit has the last say on close. Firmish sandy tannins cap off a wonderful wine. Some more time in bottle will see this develop furthermore.
