I had the opportunity to taste this Y Series Chardonnay alongside the new Lighter release which comes in at only 7% alcohol. This "normal" wine is more rounded and polished when comparing the two.
There is more spice here, and that is apparent from the get-go. White fleshed peaches, pie apple, pear and nougat nuances, the mouth is coated comfortably. Unoaked and vegan friendly, ripples of ginger spices stretch long and offer a respectable finish. The warmer climate of the Riverland shows its hand in the end result. All up, find this for around $10 on special and you're doing well for a cheeky mid-week slurp.
