Hot off the press comes this very tidy McLeish Estate Victoria Chardonnay 2023.
It sees new and used French oak, and although I don't have the numbers, the new oak portion certainly makes itself known. After a couple of days of tasting, it certainly settled into a neat groove.
Buttered toast, creme brulee, preserved lemon and lemon juice, there is some Caramilk creaminess riding through the core. Ripples of ginger and cinnamon spices build some pleasing momentum, it's a wine that will pass the roast chook test with ease. Give it a little more time in bottle and it will shine proudly. Good stuff!
