Aristotelis ke Anthoula Sonnyboy 2023

Only recently I had a Riesling that took me down memory lane back to my childhood with Whizz Fizz and Pine Lime Splice highlights and now we have this Sonnyboy from Aristotelis ke Anthoula stirring up the past again. Those were carefree days sucking on those iconic icy cold triangular bricks after a long and hot day at school. Good times! This is a tasty treat too. Welcome to funky town with this textural delight.

Winemaker Tony Zafirakos has nailed the colour of that frozen treat too. Based in the far south of NSW, the Vermentino and Zibibbo for this wine were sourced from various sites including the Riverland. Both varieties have a proven ability to deliver expressive wines from time on skins. These Aristotelis ke Anthoula wines are natural, lo-fi and with no additives.

Splash it in the glass and it's a hive of activity. Green mango, pineapple cake and barbecued peach get you in the mood. It's juicy with well-balanced acidity. An attractive skinsy appeal drives the textural profile with a flash of ginger adding a fine spice to a long tail. Wines like this would have plenty of success in trendy wine bars with some vinyl beats ticking away in the background.
