More serious than its entry-level sibling and already with four years under its belt, this Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from McLeish Estate is shaping up nicely to drink now or hold a bit longer.
Dark plums, blackcurrant paste, black olives and licks of cedar, the oak has enough wriggle room to be seen. It's certainly not dominant but it's fair to say it's softened in recent years. Dried sage, shades of leather and some cigar box add a savoury presence. Drying and puckering, there is an undeniable moreishness. The persistent finish seems never-ending as it dries out ever so slowly.
Drink to eight years.
