This Oakridge 864 Henk Aqueduct Block Pinot Noir is nothing but a silk sheet of purity and finesse.
I found it to be a little more twiggy and savoury than previous releases, but nothing can take the gloss off the sheer delight this carries.
Fabulously layered, red plums, blackcurrants, red cherries, rhubarb, red currants and freeze-dried strawberries all fold into one another before the savoury drive kicks into gear. Some orange peel rises up with tilled earth and sauteed mushrooms with a faint suggestion of truffles. Soft spices ride on the coattails completing a wine with sublime delivery and a persistent length. You get a sense that it almost possesses a weightlessness and the fine tannins have you sitting on a cloud. Sleek, delightful, just brilliant.
