Some heavy hitters have been tamed producing a wine with drive, presence and a little flirtatious edge. This blend is captivating and it lures you closer the longer it sits. Above all, I've been most impressed with these new releases from Purple Hands. The quality for the asking price is most impressive.
Dense plummy fruit moves to baked berries, raspberries, mandarin peel, dried red petals and fine spices. Dried herbs take time to move forward and the flicker of Dutch cocoa plays a deliciously dangerous cameo. Drying out ever so slowly, super fine brick dust tannins leave a quite moreish aftertaste. I have my eye on a slow cooked lamb shoulder with a compulsory bowl of fries. Winning!
