I won't get bored of saying that I love the ochre colour of this label. It's so Australian and really captures the place - those famed Coonawarra Terra Rossa soils.
Quality wine this. Many wines are gradually sneaking up in price, but this Terra Rossa range from Parker has held firm for some time - respect. Wrap your arms around this release, it's a beauty.
From the Abbey vineyard, it saw French oak (30% new) for 14 months.
A reliable Coonawarra Cabernet as ever, blackberries, blackberry pastilles, licorice, dark chocolate, mint and sage set the mood. Some char, smoked meat, red pepper corns with a some oak integrating well. It gains most pleasing momentum in the glass and over a couple of days of tasting. Ready to go now but it will age gracefully.
