Tasted alongside its 2020 sibling, this Kyberd Hills Wines Turramurra Chardonnay 2021 shines a different light. Leaner and not as concentrated, it zeros in on the mid-palate.
Handpicked from a Main Ridge vineyard and whole bunch pressed, it sees French oak for nine months (15% new).
Lemons and white fleshed nectarines are all the rage here with a precise grapefruit acidity the driving force. Baked bread, almond meal and custard powder work their way into the frame with a citrusy tang bringing the mouth to water. The longer it sits, the more I shuffle closer. A delicate creaminess and tonic like texture have the last word on an elongated finish. This is a great drink to arm yourself with for a sunset.
