The Parker Coonawarra Estate 95 Block is a blend of Cabernet and Petit Verdot (81/19) and I really like what the latter brings to the table. Attractive aromas draw you into this age-worthy blend.
From the Abbey vineyard, it sees 60% new French oak for 16 months.
Attractive aromas of purple flowers and squishy blackberries make a most pleasing first impression. Although not as expressive but a more composed wine compared to the previous release, layers of interest peel off with ease.
Boysenberries, blackberries, blackcurrant paste, redcurrants and choc mint line up for a slice of the action with delicate spices stretching through the mouth. The acidity has good shape and will pin this together for many years to come. That length seems unstoppable and delivers a superb moreishness. Cocoa tannins are fine and add a neat grippy presence on close. A big tick from me.
